About the Organization

A paid internship in T4D Technical Support is available at Shaqodoon Organization for passionate, tech-savvy, and dependable individuals.

Shaqodoon is a local NGO founded in 2011 to create innovative and long-lasting solutions to Somalia/land’s youth employment challenges. The organization designs, delivers and evaluates innovative programs to address some of the local community’s most urgent challenges in livelihood skill training, education, civic education, justice and health. Shaqodoon is a national platform whose goal is to prioritize youth employment and education on the development agenda and to exchange knowledge on effective policies and programs to improve employment and education opportunities for youth, prioritizing at risk youth, marginalized groups, and people who have lost hope and are thus often jailed for local crimes.

As part of its Technology for Development (T4D) section, Shaqodoon Organization has focused on the development of sophisticated mobile and web-based services, bridging the gap between communities and service providers/aid agencies such as government departments and local and international humanitarian and development organizations. Shaqodoon systems and gateways handle between 3 to 5 million incoming and outgoing data packets every year, including SMS, voice messages and calls, surveys and polls, and many others.

Responsibilities and Duties

·             Testing of Systems to ensure that they operate reliably.

·             Provide training to new staff.

·             Serve as the first point of contact for clients who call or email for technical assistance.

·             Use diagnostic procedures and necessary queries to perform remote troubleshooting.

·             Determine the appropriate solution based on the problem and the information provided by clients.

·             Take the customer through the process of problem-solving.

·             Send unsolved concerns to the next level of assistance.

·             Log occurrences and problems, as well as their resolution.

·             Follow up with customers and update their status and information.

·             Customers' feedback and recommendations should be forwarded to the appropriate internal staff.

·             Identify and recommend procedural improvements

·             Provide and submit weekly reports.

Qualifications

  • Excellent Reporting Skills

  • Ability to organize and manage one’s own work with the ability to prioritize and work under pressure.

  • Knowledge of office automation products, databases, and remote control is required.

  • Excellent knowledge of computer systems, mobile devices, and other technological products

  • Ability to analyze and address fundamental technological issues

  • Customer-focused and level-headed BSc/BA in IT, Computer Science, or a related discipline

  • Proficient in speaking English language

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
