BACKGROUND
Windle International Somalia (WISOM) is an International Non-Governmental organization with oversight support and coordination by the regional office in Nairobi. WISOM was founded with the belief that good education was essential if Africa was to meet the challenges it faced. Windle International Somalia implements Education, Training, and Integrated programs including WASH, Climate Adaptation, and Peace Building.
Are you passionate about protecting the rights of vulnerable populations and creating safer, more inclusive communities? Join our team as a Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Officer.
As a GBV Officer, you will play a critical role in preventing and responding to gender-based violence, with a focus on supporting women, girls, and boys. You will lead initiatives that empower survivors, raise awareness, and strengthen community-based protection systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY
Provide compassionate support including counseling, legal aid, and healthcare referrals to targeted beneficiaries.
Design and implement GBV prevention and response programs tailored to community needs.
Conduct awareness campaigns and training sessions for community leaders, educators, and service providers.
Collaborate with District Administration, government agencies, and stakeholders to enhance protection mechanisms.
Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and ensure alignment with international GBV standards.
Coordinate day to day community awareness and sensitization session
Analysis stakeholders’ effort and compile project success stories
Represent the organization in forums in GBV and protection working groups
Represent the project manager
KEY REQUIREMENTS
Degree in Gender Studies, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience in GBV prevention and response.
Strong understanding of child protection, trauma-informed care, and gender equality principles.
Excellent communication, advocacy, and community engagement skills.
Ability to work in challenging environments with empathy and professionalism.
Ability to work in remote areas in Somalia.
