 Position Summary:

 Genel is largest Oil Concession holder in Somaliland and been active in country for 10 years with offices in Hargeisa. This office-based role will report to the Country Manager and provide IT process technical and administrative support to the in-country management team across all the work sites including the head office in Hargeisa, supply base in Berbera and field activities. The candidate will be required to undertake a certain amount of travel in support of the role. Genel is an ambitious E&P company looking to maximise the value in its current portfolio and grow its position. The successful candidate will play a key role in this journey and will have the opportunity to materially contribute to the growth and success of the Company, as well as having the opportunity to develop their own competencies within an exciting hydrocarbon exploration project within Somaliland.

Key Accountabilities:

Develop a deep understanding of Genel Energy’s IT processes and tools that support project delivery. These systems and tools include the following.

·       Excel spreadsheets for cost and performance management

·       Sharepoint Libraries for document storage and management

·       Sharepoint Lists to track actions, decisions, opportunities and threats

·       Sharepoint Forms to provide simple data input into Sharepoint lists and other databases

·       PowerBI Dashboards to monitor performance against Key Performance Indicators

·       Word Document creation and formatting to provide high quality reports for internal and external stakeholders

·       Finance Systems for financial approval and tracking

·       Specialised external software packages (HSE, Drilling Reporting and Technical Engineering)

Having obtained the necessary understanding and competency of our internal systems you will become the in-country focal point providing support to the team in order to ensure that the project maintains a high level of quality in terms of data entry and output. This is likely to include providing dedicated training sessions to other team members, as well as providing support via phone when issues arise. Occasional visits to the various locations may be required to accomplish this.

Key tasks will include:

  • Undergo system training in all of Genel’s IT tools

  • Monitor compliance from the in-country team in terms of meeting commitment schedules relating to actions, tasks, decisions etc

  • Monitor and assist with data entry to ensure all required fields are completed accurately and clearly

  • Support the in-country team by providing help and advice when using the systems

  • Assist Country Management with creation and formatting of high-quality reports for internal and external stakeholders

  • Liaise with Genel IT support personnel when issues arise with systems in-country

 

Skills and Experience:

 

  • Fluent in spoken and written English

  • Graduate in any STEM subject

  • Similar experience in an international company within Somaliland preferred, but not essential. Attitude and energy are more important than previous experience

  • Knowledge of IT Systems and competency in MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

  • Familiar with Sharepoint structures within Office 365

  • Strong data analytics skills, with an ability to create clear charts from complex data

  • Ability to think logically and solve system problems when they arise

  • Knowledge of PowerBI preferred, but training can be given

Internal & External Interaction:

  • The position is expected to work closely with the Country Manager based in Hargeisa, the Delivery Manager based in the UK and many other team members that may be based in the UK, Turkey or KRI

  • Collect data from various Service Companies providing critical services in support of Genel’s operations in Somaliland

  • The job holder may have to interact with local government officials during engagement sessions with the Genel Management Team
