Location:  SOMALILAND

Position Summary:

Genel is largest Oil Concession holder in Somaliland and been active in country for 10 years with offices in Hargeisa. The Company is steadily growing the business through the appraisal and development of our assets in the Kurdistan Region and other locations. This Somaliland based role will report to the Civil engineering construction manager and is mainly a site-based role with some office attendance.

Key Accountabilities:

 Operating within Genel Energy core values and HSE ethics. This role will interface closely with the Engineering, Operations and Support teams of Genel and its Contractors.  An active engagement with all parties is required to achieve a successful design and safe site work-execution with associated local Contractors. The candidate duties and activities are centred around work preparations and worksite supervision of the works executed by all Contractors.  Engagement will also take place with non-technical departments such as the GE Government Liaison Officer (GLO) and the local communities where work is performed. The candidate will be involved in supporting both green field development projects and extension and maintenance projects to the existing sites and infrastructures. The majority of forecasted works is to be completed in Somaliland in and around Burao and the asset location with some possibility of travel to other locations in the future. 

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

The Civil Site Engineer acts on instructions provided by the Civil Engineering Construction Manager and works in close liaison with the Drilling teams, Technical Support teams, Contractor and local community.

Key attributes

·       University Degree level education in Civil Engineering with 10+ years of professional engineering experience Construction industry, especially Oil and Gas projects

·       Candidate is expected to be a self-starter with a flexible attitude to support and develop green field operations

·       Designing of required equipment foundations, structures, roads, bridges, and drainage

·       Familiar with ASTM standards, British codes, and Euro codes.

·       Site survey and quantity estimations is essential

·       Supervision of site technicians and engineers

·       Experienced with quality control system

·       Experienced in geotechnical investigations and soil stabilizations

·       Negotiating, supervisory and leadership skills

·       Worksite supervision and managing of Contractors to ensure safe and timely execution of works

·       In addition to the standard Office applications and computing skills, experienced with AutoCAD, Civil 3D Design, Total station, and GPS Instruments is essential.

·       Permit to work management system for works on site and safe work execution

·       ERT Lead in field

·       Excellent writing and speaking English and Arabic communication skills

The Candidate has sensitivity to supervising and working with diverse cultural and religious backgrounds and is self-motivated, highly initiative and adaptability.

·       Internally the candidate will be expected to work supportively and actively collaborate with all disciplines and functions
