Project Engineer

Job Summary

The Project Engineer will be responsible for the preparation of Bill of Quantities (BOQ),

Drawings, Supervise, Monitor and reporting of the implementation of the projects. He

will be supervising the Contractors and providing technical assessments for the

constructions that will be provided in the project locations. He will be working with the

community mobilizers that is stationed at the project locations to ensure the projects are

implemented as per the design and the proposal. He will be working with Canal

Committees and other community structure and the local authorities and will be

providing timely feedback to the relevant ministries and the partners on the progress of

the projects. He will be reporting to the PIAP Project Manager and will be providing

timely feedback on the progress of the constructions.

Duties and Responsibilities

 Planning, Designing, Implementation, supervision, monitoring and evaluation,

compiling technical progress & situational reports; weekly, monthly, quarterly,

and final.

 Design, revise, and develop standard operational procedures for all the projects

to be implemented in the project locations.

 Review the Contractors’ work plan and request for revision to ensure timely

completion of the works.

 Supervise infrastructure and project activities in the two project areas to ensure

all designs, material, and activities are of acceptable quality and standards are in

line with Organizational and Partners recommendations (templates and

Construction Good Practice Standards – CGPS)

 Organize monthly construction site management meetings, write the minutes of

the meeting and send the minutes of the meeting to the contractor and to

Shaqodoon on last day of the month.

 Check measurements and recommend payment with relevant documentary

evidence within the time frame to be agreed.

 Work closely with relevant authorities, Community Mobilizers, Program Monitors,

Partners and Community sections to ensure all Project interventions are

deployed in the communities.

 Provide technical feedback on Weekly and Monthly and provide narrative reports

to the project Manager.

 Identifies needs through assessments and surveys.

 Prepare technical documents (assessments, reports, drawings, bills of quantities,

contracts, etc.) using approved formats.

 Monitors project implementation for compliance with project documents,

Organizational standards, and local building codes/standards.

 Ensuring corrective action is taken where necessary.

Qualifications.

 University degree in Civil and/or Structural engineering.

 Excellent command (spoken and written) of local language(s).

 Excellent command (spoken and written) of English.

 Proficient in use of CAD software, structural design software, Microsoft Office

Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

 Grounded knowledge in rehabilitation or constructions of water catchments and

canals will be an added advantage.

 Knowledge of project management software is an asset.

 3-5 years’ professional experience in a related field of activity e.g., design,

rehabilitation and/or construction.

 Experience managing technical teams is an asset.

 Ability to work independently in a result-oriented multi-tasking and multi-cultural

environment

 Previous work experience in field operations and implementing donor-funded

projects is an added advantage.

Conditions

 Contract: 3 Months contract with possibility of extension, subject to funding and

performance. Salary and other conditions are offered in accordance with

Shaqodoon Terms of Employment. 

 Salary Range: As per Shaqodoon salary scale.

 Availability:  January 2023

 Duty station: The position will be based in Mogadishu office, but with frequent

travel to Marka and the project locations.

quality of delivering on the Scope of Services, Duties, and Responsibilities and

Deliverables of the assignment
