KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive, within delegated authority):
• Monitors and communicates with all UNHAS aircraft.
• Ensure that Distress / Safety / Weather and Traffic Advisory messages are brought immediately to the attention of operations and crew.
• General understanding and awareness of Daily Flight Schedule (DFS) and providing timely information on the performance of flight missions.
• Able to operate Radio Equipment; Proficient in the use of radio and satellite telecommunications equipment, including computer applications for flight tracking.
• Ensure the orderly and correct utilization of communications by others while carrying out their duties.
• Coordination of flight operations in conjunction with operations supervisor and contractors, keeping records and disseminating information on flight delays and mission disruptions.
• Communicating messages through the radio station to / from addressees in a timely manner
• Weather Observing Duties and liaison with the Weather Forecast Service and briefing crew accordingly.
• Provide efficient support and training to users on telecommunications equipment and procedures including Minimum Operating Security Standards (MOSS) requirements, to ensure effective use of telecommunications equipment.
• Maintain inventory and provide recommendations for potential improvements, to support efficient planning and keep telecommunications equipment operational.
• Create and maintain databases (e.g. lists of call signs, addresses, telephone numbers, etc.), to ensure accurate information is available at all times.
• Follow established emergency response processes and procedures, to ensure prompt assistance in case of emergencies.
• Familiar with A-ERP procedures and provide inputs of formulations and revision as necessary.
• Record accurate timings on flight mission performance (take-off, landing, taxi and parking) and input as appropriate in the EFMA.
• Handle call and dispatch duties.
• Maintain various logs / accounting procedures required by the Radio License.
• Ensure Annual Inspection is up-to-date with respect to the renewal of Licenses, Surveys, etc.
• Report all accidents, near misses, and hazardous conditions to the CATO/DCATO.
• Other duties as may be required.
Do you meet the minimum requirements?
Education:
• Completion of secondary school education OR University degree (Diploma/Bachelor) in flight dispatch, aeronautical engineering, air traffic control, aviation management, or other related fields.
Experience
• At least five (5) years of experience with a secondary school certificate OR University degree (Diploma/Bachelor’s) with a minimum of two (2) or more years of experience in aviation-related fields. Experience working in the aviation section of an international organization is desirable.
Language Proficiency:
• Fluency (level C) in English and Somali Languages.

• Good knowledge in the telecommunication operations and procedures and high standard computer literacy.
• Ability to operate and maintain telecommunications equipment including installation works.
• Good communication skills: ability to provide short briefings and communications clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to multi-task and respond simultaneously and in a timely fashion to demanding job requirements.
• Ability to prioritize a heavy workload, demonstrate judgement, initiative, alertness and emotional stability, especially in emergency situations.
• Good coordination and control skills to act swiftly and adequately in case of emergencies and resolve operational issues promptly.
• High sense of discretion and integrity.
• Client orientation and ability to establish effective working relationships in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment.
• Ability to work in a team.
