Position Summary

Job Title:               Business Development and Youth Coach

Reports to:           Vocational Programme Coordinator

Job Location:       Hargeisa, Somaliland

Contract Type:     (Fixed term)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking Business Development and Youth Coach to work with the development of the youth within the Vocational training program. The Business Development and Youth Coach will focus on assisting in the academic advancement of the youth in order to develop their business acumen for future ventures. He/she will be responsible for ensuring that the learning outcomes of the program and make sure personal objectives are met.

Key duties and responsibilities:

Prepare and conduct entrepreneurship-training sessions for all vocational training program participants according to the training calendar.

Design and Conduct work readiness and entrepreneurship training for Pharo VT program trainees in Hargeisa.

Train participants on entrepreneurship, leadership, Life-skills, problem solving and job readiness skills.

Coach trainees with developing viable micro-entrepreneurship ideas and help them develop a business plan.

Play a leading role in providing support, guidance and advice on possible employment opportunities to our vocational training participants.

Support youth networks in promoting employment opportunities for youth through private sector partnership.

Identify sustainable business development opportunities in the country and as well as neighboring countries.

Support trainees in preparing business plans for self-employment and applying for micro-finance loans from banks.

Support Vocational training trainees in establishing their own small startups and conduct regular monitoring on their progress through visits and phone calls.

Assist the center manager with the day-to-day running of the center.

Assist the center manager with linking and monitoring of Vocational training trainees to potential employers for internships.

Assist the center manager for the development of promotion strategy for trainees (Market trends,

skill demands, local economy development studies and policy initiatives )

Support the center manager with the engagement of the private sector to provide employment-related opportunities to all trainees in order to support their efforts in finding employment

opportunities upon completion of the vocational training program.

Support the monitoring of interns in order to ensure that the interns receive quality exposure in

terms of time, access and hands-on practical opportunities during the internship. Perform any other duties as assigned by the center manager from time to time.

 

Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or Administration, Commerce or development, Entrepreneurship, or related field.

Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role preferably in SMEs, development, entrepreneurial, Coaching, employment and work placement.

Experience in training center management, Career development, entrepreneurship training and job creation activities.

Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.

Excellent leadership skills with demonstrated abilities to work well independently as well as part of a team to resolve diverse problems;

Excellent analytical, problem-solving and management skills. Effective communication skills, fluent in Somali and English. Strong business acumen.

Self-assured, internally motivated and passionate individual with outstanding communication

The salary and benefits package is competitive and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
