What will you do?

  • Act as an escalation point in providing procedural and technical support to staff in finance and administration.

  • Coordinate a wide range of actions related to human resource, work planning, financial management and administrative requirements.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of financial and administrative policies and procedures.

  • Coordinate the provision of a range of services such as facilities management, travel, protocol, and light vehicle management.

  • Contribute to the preparation, implementation, and monitoring of budgets, expenditure, and budget forecasts.

  • Assist managers in the elaboration of resources requirement for budget submission.

  • Prepare budget performance reports with analysis between approved budget and actual expenditures’ using various sources.

  • Contribute to the improvement of internal processes, enhancement of corporate systems and internal controls.

  • Monitor the daily cash position and initiate replenishment decisions on a timely manner.

  • Regular liaison with head office to ensure that payments are processed in a timely manner.

  • Monitor the expenditure trends and oversee the recording of financial transactions in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Monitor, control and analyse general ledger accounts and regularly conduct reconciliations.

  • Prepare and analyse financial and statistical reports for the various activity managers and guest houses.

  • Supervise contractors providing office maintenance services and maintain requisite documentation.

  • Supervise operations of different administrative tasks including screening, indexing, classifying, storing, and disseminating information.

  • Prepare and consolidate complex reports, briefing notes and other documentation as requested.

  • Undertake field missions to provide technical support and guidance.

  • Perform other related duties as required

Do you meet the minimum requirements?

  • Advance University Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or related fields, or First University degree in the same subject(s) with additional years of related work experience

  • 1 year or more of progressive professional experience in Finance and Administrative Operations, preferably in an international organization, embassy, or UN system.

  • Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Somali is a requirement.

    Are you competent for this job? Do you have

  • Hands-on Finance and Administrative Operations experience in the UN or INGOs is desirable

  • Experience identifying opportunities, challenges, risks and providing solutions.

  • Experience in managing relationships with UN agencies, NGOs, private sector and/or government organizations.

  • Excellent analytical and writing skills, as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • . Field experience within a range of contexts (emergency, conflict, and transition).
