SAFETY ADVISOR ASSISTANT, GALGADUUD REGION

LOCATION: DHUSAMAREEB

Organisation Background

Founded in 2011, the International NGO Safety Organisation (INSO) is an international non-governmental organisation that supports humanitarian aid workers by establishing safety coordination platforms in insecure contexts. INSO provides registered NGOs with a range of free services, including real-time incident tracking, analytical reports, safety-related data and mapping, crisis management support, staff orientations and training.

INSO provides daily support to more than 1000 NGOs operating in 16 of the world’s most insecure countries.

INSO is registered in the Netherlands with its headquarters based in The Hague, the international city of peace and justice.

INSO Somalia

Founded in 2015, the program recognizes the insecure operating environment all NGOs face in Somalia/Somaliland and the collective value of enhancing safety preparedness and support through the provision of specialized, coordinated, and focused safety management support.

The Program supports 125 NGOs with presence in Somaliland, South Central, Puntland and Galmudug regions. Job Summary

Reporting to the Safety Advisor (SA), the Safety Advisor Assistant (SAA) will in close collaboration with the Safety Advisor collect and verify safety information, deliver INSO Services, adhere to INSO Policies and procedures among other duties that may be assigned.

The incumbent will be the focal point in Galgaduud Region, liaising and coordinating with NGOs and other relevant actors and support them as and when required.

Specific Responsibilities

  1. Collection and Verification of Safety Information

  2. Representation and Coordination in Galgaduud Region

  3. Delivery of INSO Services

  4. Finance, Human Resources and Logistics for Dhusamareeb Office

  5. Adhere to INSO Policies and procedures

Skills and Qualifications

Mandatory Requirements

  • Must be Somali National

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Political Sciences, History, Anthropology, or any other equivalent diploma

  • 5 years of experience in positions requiring high level information sourcing, processing, analysis, and writing

  • Excellent oral and written skills in English & Somali languages

  • Ability to relate and network with key stakeholders in Galgaduud Region

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook Email and Excel tools.
