ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

These jobs are found in Ethiopia Country Office, Jijiga AO. The Job holders report to the Unit Head,  Senior IT Operation Associate and delegate.
At this level job holders are expected to demonstrate responsibility and initiative to respond independently to queries with only general guidance. There is a requirement to use judgment in dealing with unforeseen problems on a daily basis. Job holders are expected to manage resources and coach and coordinate a team of support staff.

Skills and Qualifications

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  1. Prepare electrical bill of quantities for new or refurbishment projects and work with engineering and procurement to evaluate vendor quotations at technical level as required as per the WFP procurement manual. 

  2. Provide, installation and maintenance of electrical services schedule, be involved in the installation or supervision of installation. 

  3. Carry out works to WFP and IEC standards for all electrical services, including wiring and sizing standards and maintenance services. 

  4. Carry out the installation and maintenance of the electricity wiring and distribution systems for all WFP offices and warehouses in any WFP operation as required, ensuring a safe and reliable working environment according to the WFP and IEC electrical standards. 

  5. Provide written requests for electrical materials order (BOQ) and keep detailed reports on storage and usage of these materials: new installation, modification installation, UPS, voltage stabilizer, automatic transfer switch and Air-condition (AC) installation and maintenance 

  6. The work shall involve the provision of electrical and mechanical solutions at all WFP offices.

  7. Assist in designing, providing sketch diagram, and installing electrical distribution equipment layouts used for WFP Ethiopia.

  8. Maintain knowledge of WFP requirements such as new and modified electrical installation, knowledge of gasoline and gasoil generators, stabilizer, UPS, ATS, split type AC’s cassette type ACs for electrical installations.

  9. Installing solar/battery inverter systems as per WFP and IEC standard. 

  10. Repair and replace defective components in motors, generators, controllers, storage batteries, switchboards, switches and various electrical fixtures.

  11. Install, maintain and repair electrical, electromechanical, and electronic parts of machinery and equipment.

  12. Test solid-state circuitry to determine defective components in analog and digital equipment along with the replacement of defective parts.

  13. Install improvements and major upgrades to electrical system and subsystems.

  14. Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs on base facilities: including, generator, stabilizer, UPS and ACs, distribution boards.

  15. Follow up and update the inventory list at the store, keep the fixed assets registerd in your responsible area and order the missing electrical items in advance if necessary.

  16. Plan before hand how the work process should be implemented and the preventive maintenance schedule should be made as planned.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Satisfactory completion of secondary school education, diploma, BA Degree or certificate level in electrical studies particularly in relation to electrical installation.

Experience:   5 or more years of progressively responsible and proven hands-on electrical and electro-mechanical experience in single and three phases. Experience working in an international organization or multicultural environment is an added advantage. 

Language:     Fluency in both oral and written communication in English. Knowledge of the local language is added advantage.
